As part of our learning about the Garden Centre we also learned about the parts of a flower.  We did an experiment with water and food colouring.  We had our ‘control’ glass which just had water and three other glasses with water – one containing red food colouring, one containing yellow food colouring and the third containing green food colouring.  Over a couple of days we watched as the tulips sucked up the water.  We noticed that the petals remained white on the ‘control’ flower, while the other tulips began to turn the same colour as the food colouring in their glass.  It was fun to watch the petals changing colour.
